If D-Howard could make a free throw, you"d be in good shape.
June 15th, 2009 at 12:48 pm
wish I could help. one of my ticket partners has ours for Sunday. enjoyed for a while, and then suffered through last night at the game. hopefully there is a miracle left. good luck getting there.
June 15th, 2009 at 12:48 pm
Dear Chris -
I am a believer.
I don't have tickets. But I think they are coming your way!
I can feel it.
Happy Father's Day!
June 15th, 2009 at 12:49 pm
I am a big Laker fan….as I grew up two blocks away from the Great Western Forum as a kid! Go Lakers…………….good luck on your
ticket search…..although I believe that you are in for a huge loss and disappointment on your birthday this Sunday.
June 15th, 2009 at 12:49 pm
Orlando in 7!
June 15th, 2009 at 12:50 pm
I do not have tickets or a connection, but wish you well in finding a way….
Go Magic!!!
June 15th, 2009 at 12:51 pm
I wish I had some so I could give them to you, because I"m not sure I could bear to watch Superman miss two free throws, either one of which at 11.1 seconds would have sealed the victory only to then watch us not foul someone to give them a two-point opportunity and remove the 3-point option. We handed it to them on a silver platter – I was screaming!
June 15th, 2009 at 12:52 pm
Hey Chris,
I hope your wish comes through and the magic doesn't blow it…
I was devastated last night watching the magic lose another game to LA
But regardless of what happens I wish you a wonderful birthday.
I pray that god will bless you with many many more bdays..
Again…
HAPPPYYYYY BIRTHDAY!!!!!!
June 15th, 2009 at 12:52 pm
Thanks for sparing me the visual. As for tickets to the Magic you might be better off driving to Tampa and taking in a Rays game…..Go Red Sox.
Happy Birthday and Happy Father's Day!
June 15th, 2009 at 12:53 pm
Good luck scoring tickets! Your message (and watching the Magic on TV) reminds me of when I lived in Orlando (back when I was editor of OBJ), and was desperate to see the Magic in the NBA Finals against Houston. I ended up buying a ticket for the first game from a scalper outside the O-rena for $100 — a steep price then but probably a bargain compared with what"s being quoted now. He put the ticket inside a white towel. For my $100, I got a nosebleed view of Nick Anderson missing four foul shots in the final minute. Oh well, at least it was the NBA Finals — something I"ll suspect I"ll never see here in the land of the Washington Wizards.
June 15th, 2009 at 12:54 pm
I hope you get your present. Nice note but I totally dislike the NBA and am an NFL fan. Now if you ever want to go to Mecca and see God's Team play (the Packers at Lambeau for the un-informed), I can get great season tickets there.
June 15th, 2009 at 12:54 pm
I don't have Magic tickets, but I have Twins tickets in Minneapolis. (Not quite the same thing, eh?)
June 15th, 2009 at 12:55 pm
Sorry Chris,
GO LAKERS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
D-fish put the dagger in, and the EVIL KOBE and the gang with twist it on Sunday!
June 15th, 2009 at 12:56 pm
I have been receiving you email for quite a while and it pained me to hear about your Magic. Here in San Antonio we have had a great run every other year it seems so I feel for you.
Go Magic!!!!!!

Please do not subject Chris to the public humiliation of seeing the Magic go down on Sunday. He has a wonderful public persona, and being present for another Magic loss would do him no good.
After all, it will be his birthday, and seeing Kobe acclaim, “I"m going to Disneyland ” after kissing the trophy, would be too much for Chris. We need Chris to continue to provide a credible voice for small business lending.
June 15th, 2009 at 1:01 pm
As you know, Chris is out desparately looking for Magic tickets.
His story though is incredibly both enjoyable and eerily similar.
Here my wife Margaret and I sit in a suburb of Detroit with our "just returned home"
now college sophomore daughter and 16 year old son, and we had season tickets
for the Detroit Red Wings for 15 years! And we had to part with them as a luxury for
us living in Michigan, trying to survive a real estate and mortgage bust (not to
mention the automotive bust) Try to pay college and private school tuitions with all that
going on!
And tonight is the 7th and final game of the Stanley Cup finals! And we live only 20 minutes
from where they will be playing tonight! (And with all the college age kids and 16 year olds
traipsing through the house since our home seems to be the "destination", we cannot watch in our underwear)
All those games that we took our babies and toddlers, and paid their full admission!
So, if you have some spare Red Wings tickets, please call me! My cell phone
answers to 1-800-STANDARD
Best of luck with the Magic tickets.

I may to take you up on your offer. I think every red-blooded American sports fan should witness a game in the Frozen Tundra! Just wish things with Favre hadn"t gone so bizarrely.
June 15th, 2009 at 1:04 pm
Happy Birthday Chris! I live in Miami and I'm a Heat fan so don't give up. In 2006 we came back from an 0 and 2 record and won 4 straight to become champions to the heavily favored Mavericks. It's not over till the fat lady sings.
Good luck!
June 15th, 2009 at 1:05 pm
Happy Birthday Chris –
I hope it"s a great year for you and your family. Go Magic!
June 15th, 2009 at 1:06 pm
Happy Birthday. I hope it"s a great one and you get a hold those tickets.
June 15th, 2009 at 1:06 pm
Very cute letter. Double sorry, however, . . . . . no tickets AND we are on what you might call the “dark side” of this deal.
Like your writing style. Don"t know if either of us will make a deal from all this, but I DO read most of what you sent. With an average 500 messages per day (net of spam), that"s saying something about your writing.

June 15th, 2009 at 1:07 pm
Good luck. My story is the exact same as yours.
June 15th, 2009 at 1:07 pm
Happy Birthday Chris, and GO MAGIC ! and GO CHRIS !
June 15th, 2009 at 1:08 pm
Sorry Chris but I don"t have access to any tickets..
Hope you find some!!
Have a great birthday!!
June 15th, 2009 at 1:08 pm
So sorry, Chris, but I am a major Lakers fan, being from Southern California, and all!!
June 15th, 2009 at 1:09 pm
Sorry man but the Magic are toast
June 15th, 2009 at 1:10 pm
First, don't get excited…I don't know of any tickets yet. However, I always love reading whatever you decide to write about (even if it is business and financial!).
I do promise…IF I should come across some tickets…I will certainly let you be the first to know.
June 15th, 2009 at 1:10 pm
I was reading your email and I was disappointed after reading your evil remarks about Kobe Bryant and the Lakers. My prediction for the series is that the Lakers will take it this sunday. I am sorry to say that your birthday will be ruined in Orlando by Kobe Bryant and the Lakers, while all of us in Los Angeles are celebrating and getting ready to throw a Championship Parade. Happy early 37th Birthday enjoy it before the Lakers demolish the Orlando Magic. Kobe Bryant is the best player in the world right now and Lakers are soon to be World Champions again, for the 15th time.
June 15th, 2009 at 1:11 pm
Marine Corps Veterans know that Flag day is part of being an American. Happy Birthday Chris ! Oh yes I have been paying attention. Good luck Orlando……………………
June 15th, 2009 at 1:12 pm
It's always good to see some "true" Orlando Magic fans. I took my son to a lot of games and there were plenty of seats left when they weren't up against a team like the Lakers.
I'm hoping and praying that the Magic will win these last 3 games. I have moved to Miami and unfortunately never had an opportunity to meet you but Darien Hill had nothing but great things to say about you.
I know someone in the ticket office so I will send him your wife's email. Have a Happy Father's Day!
June 15th, 2009 at 1:13 pm
After that game last night, if I had tickets, I would just give them to you… oh, and please don't wish my state of California into the Pacific by an earthquake… I don't like the lakers, but I do enjoy doing real estate and living here
Good luck with the tickets.. Go MAGIC!
Happy Birthday & Father's Day
June 15th, 2009 at 1:13 pm
Happy early birthday, my friend. It is good to hear from you – and I hope you score some good tickets! Best, Jay
June 15th, 2009 at 1:14 pm
You know..that's what I like about you. keep it in the family and so on and so forth. Mercantile and myself..we do need to talk. Meanwhile, tend to the ones that tend to the ball. Talk to you soon Mr. Mercantile.
June 15th, 2009 at 1:14 pm
Kennard –
I actually really do like your State – always enjoy picking up those extra 3 hours on the East Coast when I travel there. Always sunny and pleasant, too — though the taxes would get to me after a while. Thanks for your comments.
June 15th, 2009 at 1:15 pm
Kathleen –
Thanks for your kinds words, Kathleen.
My son"s into Star Wars and sort of likes the bad guys… what can I say? Kobe clearly puts you on the “Dark Side,” though I won"t mention the taunts of some of the people I heard last night – that little “episode” in Colorado a few years ago was brought up a lot, especially when he went to the free-throw line. Phil Jackson"s the Greatest Coach Ever (I am originally from Illinois and was a long-suffering Bulls fan before MJ and he came along), so I"m altogether anti-Lakers. Enjoy the celebration – clearly no human can stop Kobe on the basketball court.
June 15th, 2009 at 1:16 pm
WOULD LOVE TO GIVE YOU MINE BUT GOING WITH THE FAM!!! SORRY CHRIS!!
June 15th, 2009 at 1:16 pm
you are so wonderful Chris!!!!!!!!!! have a HAPPY BIRTHDAY from all of us at Statewide Commercial & Home Loans Inc.
June 15th, 2009 at 1:17 pm
I believe in birthdays but don't believe in Magic. Happy Birthday.
June 15th, 2009 at 1:17 pm
I tried to get magic tickets last Saturday when they went on Public sale but it seemed like they were gone before they went on sale! I hope you have better luck and if you do I hope some of it rubs off on the Magic. As my new adopted US sports team I have to say that watching the Magic is a lot like watching Newcastle United, they lull you into a false sense of security that they are going to win the game and then somehow contrive to throw it away! The marking for the 3 point equalizer on Thurday was shocking, typcial NUFC I would say.
Good Luck and Happy Birthday for Sunday.
Cheers,
Dean
June 15th, 2009 at 1:18 pm
WHO THE HELL YOU THINK YOU ARE, ??? (GIVE GOD THANKS, ) YOU HAVE TICKETS,AND CAN AFFORD IT AT THIS TIME, WHILE SOME PEOPLE HAVE NOTHING TO EAT OR SOME WHERE TO LIVE.
GIVE GOD THANKS, FOR ALL THINGS.
IF IT IS HIS WILL IT WILL WORK OUT.
June 15th, 2009 at 1:19 pm
Chris.. Sorry I don't have available tickets for the game Sunday, but I did find out
you and I have the same birthday. Unfortunately for me its not the same year. Anyway
fly your flag and GO MAGIC.
June 15th, 2009 at 1:19 pm
GOOD LUCK ON THE HUNT FOR TICKETS. If I still had my tickets, I would certainly give the two (2 )TICKETS TO you (FREE OF COSTS). SORRY.
June 15th, 2009 at 1:20 pm
Thanks for your updates and flag's day Reminder! Chris as you know by now your successes has to do a lot of your interactive thinking and multitasking,…A brilliant supportive wife is a plus too,…
You can have the magic realized by interactively thinking about happening,…
I seeing it happening!
Plan the winner's parties!
June 15th, 2009 at 1:21 pm
I really hope you get those tickets so you can enjoy your birthday. You are truly blessed to be so accomplished at only 37 years.
All the best,
Janis

Estella –
Wow! I guess it was His will then, since my wife was able to get tickets and we went to the game last night.
Yes, there are people everywhere starving and/or without shelter, but we, as Americans, give more than double the second most generous nation in the world (England) yearly, and I give regularly to charity, year after year, too… even when I didn"t think I could “afford” it. That we continue to have starving people and people without shelter in our world, is one of those mysteries of life — not easily explained.
To say, “Who the HELL do I think I am” seems a bit extreme to me and even pious (and I don"t mean the “positive” definition of “pious”). Since you reference God so much in your email to me, perhaps you"re aware of Matthew 7:1 "Do not judge, or you too will be judged." I DO give God thanks, but I also believe he wants us to enjoy life and the bounty He"s provided for us.
It will now be my will to remove you from our database.
June 15th, 2009 at 1:23 pm
Mary Jo,
Not quite!
Plus you pummeled my Cubs this weekend. Of course, so does everybody else! Goes a long ways to explaining why I root for some winners off the baseball diamond, doesn"t it?
June 15th, 2009 at 1:24 pm
Janis –
Thanks for the very kind words.
June 15th, 2009 at 1:24 pm
I can't offer tickets, but I am rooting for the Magic. Not only for my friends in the big "O", but I also hate the "evil Kobe".
June 15th, 2009 at 1:24 pm
Hey Chris –
Hope you"re having a great birthday and that you got your tickets to the big game tonight.
See you Wednesday!
June 15th, 2009 at 1:25 pm
WE got great tix on EBay! Good luck! Go Magic-you gotta believe! (:))
June 15th, 2009 at 1:26 pm
I just read your latest newsletter & found it very interesting! I'm from Clearwater & traveled this week to LA (sorry no tickets), then to Boise to compete In a half ironman (70.3) today. This email was cute & made me laugh. Good timing- Thank you! Good luck with finding tickets & I look forward to the next email/newsletter!
June 15th, 2009 at 1:26 pm
HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!
June 15th, 2009 at 1:27 pm
I'm so sorry, but I don't have access to any tickets. I sure HOPE you can get them and that it helps the guys pull out a WIN!!!!
June 15th, 2009 at 1:27 pm
The Magic can lay down and end it Sunday. Go LAKERS!!
June 15th, 2009 at 1:28 pm
Yes go Magic – in the toilet where they belong. They are such a worthless team they were lucky to even make it to the finals. Maybe within ten years they will be able to beat the Lakers that is if the Magic franchise is still around.
June 15th, 2009 at 1:29 pm
OH! MY GOODNESS CHRISTOPHER,
Do you realize you are writing to an AVID LAKERS" fan!!!! This is KOLBE Country. Anyway better luck next season
and HAPPY FATHER"S DAY from a Californian.
June 15th, 2009 at 1:29 pm
Away for the w.e
Sorry no tickets for sports.
Had 2 tickets to Alvin Ailey
& two more to Philhamonic for Weds.
Hope you had a great w.e
and Happy Birthday and many more!
June 15th, 2009 at 1:30 pm
Way to be spiteful, John! I got plenty of responses from Lakers fans and nobody else was quite as mean-spirited as you. Congrats!
Third best record in the league, an average age of around 26, and a brand-new arena opening next year – seems our team will be around for a while. You guys will be scrambling this off-season to stay competitive with your free agents leaving and Fish retiring (and maybe even Master Phil driving off into the sunset again – I am a life-long Bulls fan from Illinois originally, so I know the pain of ineptness, as well as what a team under the Greatest Coach ever can accomplish).
June 15th, 2009 at 1:31 pm
Chris:
Yes, there is something truly special about sitting with 67,000 of your friends, holding your beer as the ice slowly forms inside the bottle and watching football while the snow swirls around you. The Packers offense line traditionally plays with no sleeves or undershirts under their uniforms. Those are the tough guys!
I have been going to games for as long as I can remember (actually I was at the '67 Ice Bowl, but sadly my Mom was pregnant with me at the time and I didn't get to see it). If your travels bring to the Northland, look me up and I'll see what I can do.
As to Favre, I really like his wife she used to live a few doors down from my cousins and their kids went to school together. Brett needs to have his head examined and retire to play golf.
June 15th, 2009 at 1:32 pm
Amy,
Can"t say I disagree with any of your assessments here.
Too bad you were only in utero for THAT game – though it was certainly warmer for you. I would have been on the side of my Cowboys for it –sorry.
Chris
June 18th, 2009 at 3:27 pm
Condolences.
I am equally passionate about the Washington Redskins who can't seem to get it all together. Maybe this year…..
June 18th, 2009 at 3:28 pm
How I wish I had some tickets and I would give them to you but unfortunately I don't. I will check with my son and his friends and I will let you know via your wife of course if I can help.
HAPPY BIRTHDAY CHRIS
