Chris,
Interesting piece. I agree 100%, the lenders don't have a gun to their head while being told to put the money back on the street. It's clearly evident to me that the money is being used for other purposes.
Small businesses are the key to righting this economic mess we are in, they need to be helped so that the entire country can begin to see improvement in the economy.
Let's hope that 2009 sees the changes we need.
Sincerely,
Joe Bartolotta

This is just a repeat of the early to mid 90s.
When things were normal pre 2003 we had all of these gov programs and they worked.
Now they are making it harder to get fha sba and rd loans in a time when the rhetoric is clamoring around more business and how they want the private sector to loosen up.
I call it the usual political smoke and mirrors.

It gets tougher for small business to survive, especially when federal programs that are being implemented sometime starting in May 2009 will literally close approximately 10,000 small businesses in the country in the first round. More in the second round. Yes Medicare is implementing ways to cut reimbursements. Only the large companies will survive. This process should be stopped until our economic condition gets back to normalcy.

How sad it is that an estimated 2,500 business development officers have lost their jobs, and that i am finding few banks and lenders out there that I can submit loan packages to. I am a licensed mortgage broker.
