SBA Lender Writes Book

Local small-business lender Chris Hurn has published a book on entrepreneurship, “The Entrepreneur’s Secret to Creating Wealth:  How the Smartest Business Owners Build Their Fortunes”.

Hurn, chief executive officer of Orlando-based Mercantile Capital Corp. and a frequent commentator on small-business issues, said the book offers a perspective on wealth that he has gained by lending money to small-business owners.

“I’ve written my book to help small-business owners create wealth, grow their businesses and create jobs in any economic environment,” Hurn said.

The book focuses on explaining to business owners why they should own property verses rent it, and how to find a real estate broker, a lender and a loan when they need them.  The book also spotlights several of Hurn’s clients and explains the U.S. Small Business Administration’s 504 loan, which Hurn’s company specializes in.

According to Mercantile Capital, through the end of September it had closed this year on 75 loans that are financing projects valued at more than $318 million combined.
