15 Years, 15 Small Businesses, 15 Stories: Islamorada Beer Company

With the holiday season upon us, we are really proud to be able to brag about one of our clients and how they’re giving back to their community. And it’s perfect timing to be able to award our second 15 for 15 Outstanding Entrepreneur Award to Islamorada Beer Company (“IBC”).

IBC began operations in the Florida Keys and grew pretty quickly. Tyrone Bradley, President and Cofounder, and his partners came to us looking to buy a second location to help with the growing demand for their beer and their desire to expand throughout the state of Florida. You can read more about the particulars of the loan we provided for their second location in Fort Pierce in our Success Stories page, but we want to focus on the amazing story that makes us proud to call the folks at Islamorada our clients.

As most of you know, Hurricane Irma made landfall in the Florida Keys on September 10th, severely impacting the area Islamorada Beer Company calls home. They immediately mobilized gathering food, water, and other essential supplies at their Fort Pierce location. They even reached out to other local business to take those much needed essentials to the Keys on boats while the roads were still impassable. They followed that up by holding a Hurricane Relief Party on September 15th in the Fort Pierce brewpub, where all beer proceeds plus 100% of tips were donated to the relief effort. From that event alone they raised $6,279 and received 30 pallets of donated items.

To date IBC has collected over $60,000 in donations and that’s in addition to all the in-kind donations they received. With that they’ve been able to contribute much needed items to the affected communities including: food, water, prescriptions, beds, furniture, household appliances, coloring books, children’s bicycles and much more.

We’re proud to be able to call Islamorada Beer Company our clients and brag on their achievements. It’s no wonder that in October the St. Lucie County Chamber of Commerce named them Business of the Year after just one full year in the area. Please join us in congratulating IBC on their incredible generosity in giving back to their community.

P.S. As with every transaction we close, we would not be able to do it without the help of our referral network. IBC has been a wonderful client of our parent bank IBERIABANK, which referred the loan to us and closed the permanent first mortgage, and IDS Corporation served as the CDC in the transaction.
